Tahoma Bears Deliver Wrestling Masterclass, Blank Mount Rainier Rams in Decisive 79-0 Victory
Last night, the Tahoma High School wrestling team, faced off against the Mount Rainier High School Rams, and the outcome was exactly what everyone expected - a resounding victory for the Bears. A number of Bears weighed in at their respective weight classes, then bumped up a weight to help cover for a teammate that was out with an injury.
From the first match at 126 pounds to the final showdown at 120 pounds, Tahoma's dominance was on full display. The Bears outperformed the Rams in every weight class, leaving no question about who the better team was on this night. The Bears secured the first takedown in every match and were able to pin in 9 of the 14 matches.
The Tahoma Bears showcased their prowess with a series of spectacular falls. Owen Marshall set the tone starting the dual off at 126 pounds, pinning Mount Rainier's Andrew Dowling in just 1 minute and 37 seconds. The trend continued with Alex Othon, Zach Baker, Gavin Wells, Joe Sullivan, and Andrew Feist, each earning falls in their respective weight classes.
Isac Deonigi contributed to the dominant performance with a tech fall at 165 pounds, further widening the point gap. Adriano Perez, Dylan Stover, Kage Repenn, and Alex Mondt sealed the deal with impressive wins in their weight classes, ultimately culminating in a final score of 79-0.
Crew Lambro and Colby Hill secured forfeits at 106 and 113 pounds, extending the lead.
Carter Tughan's match at 120 pounds highlighted the night, concluding with a fall at 3:50, securing the 79-0 lead for the Bears.
The Tahoma wrestling team's collective effort, skill, and determination were evident in every match.
The Bears will compete again this coming Saturday at the inaugural Mount Si Duals, held in Snoqualmie, Washington at Mount Si High School.
