Tahoma Wrestling Dominates Mount Si Duals with Stellar Performances

The mats were down, the rain was blowing sideways, as our team hit the wrestling battlefield at Mount Si High School for a dual tournament yesterday.

Tahoma vs Juanita

Our Bears started the day with a resounding roar, facing off against Juanita High School. The scoreboard painted a vivid picture of domination with a 71-3 victory. From Crew Lambro's swift fall to Zach Baker's technical mastery, Juanita felt the full force of the Bear fury. Jackson Stoops made his return to the mat and dominated his opponent in a 13-2 major decision. Sophomore and first year wrestler Amataga Bird stepped in for an ill teammate and came away with a fall!

Tahoma vs Mountlake Terrace

Next up, Mountlake Terrace tried their luck, but came up short. The team cruised to a 82-0 victory, owning every square inch of the mat. The team won by fall in 10 of 14 matches.

Tahoma vs Mount Vernon -

Mount Vernon stepped into the lion's den, hoping to weather the storm. However, the Bears had different plans, securing a 66-18 triumph. Adriano Perez continued his reign of terror, while Gavin Wells left a trail of fallen opponents in his wake. Mount Vernon tried to stand tall, but the Bears stood taller!

Tahoma vs Mount Si -

The grand finale of the day featured our Bears facing off against #8 ranked Mount Si High School that ended with a triumphant 74-6 victory. The highlight? Alex Othon's strategic brilliance as he outwrestled returning state placer Joshua Hall with a decisive 8-1 decision. Isac Deonigi also had a win against a ranked wrestler in Quaid Harrison. Senior Kage Repenn continued his winning ways knocking off another state placer in Jack Hendricks. It's safe to say; Mount Si faced the full force of the Bear stampede.

The Gold team wrestled in duals against Chief Sealth, Kentlake, Bellevue and Shorecrest yesterday. The Bears wrestled hard, showed grit, while also displaying improvement from where they were when the season began. Job well done to Wyatt Montesi, Harlan Day, Logan Wray and Osiris Bell for getting two pins on the day. Nolan Coghill had one of the more exciting matches for the Bears, winning a hard fought overtime thriller against his opponent from Bellevue, 11-9. A special shoutout to Paul Tarantino (pictured below) for getting three pins on the day. The Gold, and C-team, Bears will look to build on the momentum at the Rogers Holiday Tournament at Rogers High School in Puyallup this coming Saturday, December 16th.

Battling against Chief Sealth, Kentlake, Bellevue and Shorecrest High School, the team went 1-3 on the day collecting a victory against Shorecrest based on criteria. The dual scores for the Gold Team were: Tahoma 18 Chief Sealth 66, Tahoma 33 Kentlake 46, Tahoma 33 Bellevue 42 and Tahoma 42 Shorecrest 42.

The Bears will compete this Wednesday night against Kentwood High School at Kentwood. The Blue team will then be leaving on Thursday for Tri State, held at North Idaho College and while the Gold Team heads to Rogers next Saturday for the Rogers Holiday Tournament.
