Tahoma Bears Shine Bright on Junior Bear Night
In a dazzling display of talent and teamwork, the Tahoma Bears triumphed over the Kennedy Catholic Lancers in a resounding victory, with a final score of 78-0. The electrifying match took place on a special night known as "Junior Bear Night," where young wrestlers from the Pierce County League Junior Bear program had the unique opportunity to showcase their skills under the spotlight and in front of our cheering crowd.
The Tahoma Bears wasted no time in setting the tone for the evening. The match kicked off with Crew Lambro, representing the Bears in the 106-pound weight class, who secured a stunning victory with a pin over Alexander Herrera of Kennedy Catholic. The crowd erupted in cheers as the scoreboard displayed 6-0 in favor of Tahoma.
Colby Hill, wrestling in the 113-pound weight class, followed suit, swiftly pinning Miguel Rosario-Contratto to add another 6 points to Tahoma's score. The Bears continued their dominant performance with Carter Tughan, Owen Marshall, Alex Othon, Gavin Wells, Joe Sullivan, and Andrew Feist all securing victories via fall in their respective weight classes.
The much-anticipated match of the night came at 165 pounds when senior Cyrus Comia, ranked #2 at 157, showed true grit and determination. He bumped up to the 165-pound weight class to face off against the #3 ranked Emanuele Collins of Kennedy Catholic. The match was an intense battle, with both wrestlers displaying exceptional skill and resilience. After a hard-fought contest, Cyrus Comia emerged victorious in overtime, with a final score of 4-2. His triumph was met with thunderous applause from the crowd.
The Tahoma Bears continued their dominance with additional wins in the higher weight classes, including a forfeit at 175 pounds and a fall by Dylan Stover at 190 pounds. Kage Repenn and Alex Mondt secured wins in their respective weight classes to cap off an incredible evening of wrestling.
After the dual meet concluded, the Junior Bears had the chance of a lifetime as they gathered around their wrestling heroes to collect autographs. It was a heartwarming scene that showcased the strong sense of camaraderie and mentorship within the Tahoma wrestling community.
The final score of 78-0 in favor of Tahoma was a testament to the dedication, hard work, and skill of the entire wrestling team. Tonight, the Bears will compete against the #1 team in the 2A Classification, Orting High School. This weekend we will be competing in three different tournaments. The Varsity will be wrestling at Lake Stevens, the JV team will be wrestling at the Bellevue Tournament and the C Team will be wrestling at Rogers High School.
