Tahoma Bears Triumph in a Decisive Victory Against Kentridge Chargers

Tonight's dual meet between the Tahoma Bears and the Kentridge Chargers at Kentridge High School was a remarkable display of skill, determination, and teamwork. Despite missing a few key starters, the Tahoma Bears, expected to reign supreme, didn't just win; they dominated with some huge wins by our JV wrestlers stepping up to the plate.

The evening started with the 106 weight class, where Kentridge's Jaxon Love secured a win over Tahoma's Osisis Bell with a fall at 5:06. This early victory for Kentridge was an exciting start for them, but Tahoma quickly balanced the score. In the 113 class, Tahoma's Colby Hill faced Martino Boprey of Kentridge, achieving a fall at 3:34, bringing the score to a 6-6 tie.

From there, Tahoma started to showcase their depth. Carter Tughan, in the 120 class, won with a major decision over Kealiiahonui Ohumukini, a significant 18-6 victory that began a streak for Tahoma. Jace Macatangay (126) continued this momentum with a close 8-5 decision over Alika Angeles. Alex Othon (132) and Paul Tarantino (138) followed suit, both securing falls in under two minutes against their Kentridge opponents, Micah Corpuz and Ethan Hayles, respectively.

The dominance of Tahoma was further established in the 144 class, where Gavin Wells executed a swift victory over Zakary Strege with a fall at 1:10. Joe Sullivan (150) and Isac Deonigi (157) continued the winning streak for Tahoma, with Sullivan achieving a fall at 3:17 against Saary Slim, and Deonigi securing a technical fall over Caleb Calo with an impressive 20-5 score.

As the match progressed, the Bears' prowess was undeniable. Emmanuel Salo (165) extended Tahoma's lead with a fall at 6:19 against Johnny Unpingco, and Ethan Edwards (190) mirrored this success with a fall at 1:48 against Grayson Haukaas.

The match concluded with Tahoma securing victories in the 215 and 285 weight classes by forfeit, bringing the final score to an overwhelming 72-6 in favor of the Tahoma Bears. This meet was a testament to the strength and depth of the Tahoma team. Their backups didn't just fill in; they stepped up magnificently, demonstrating that a team's true strength lies in every member's ability to rise to the occasion.

The Bears Varsity will be taking this weekend off, many heading to Oregon State to watch the Oregon State vs. Penn State Wrestling Match. Our JV will be competing at Tahoma in a JV dual tournament this weekend. As always, that you to our fans who come out to support our kids. #GoBears
