Tahoma Bears Shine at League Wrestling Tournament with Historic Win

In an electrifying display of wrestling excellence, the Tahoma Bears shattered records at the NPSL League wrestling tournament hosted by Kennedy High School. Dominating the mats, the Bears not only clinched an unprecedented 11 first-place finishes but also set a league record with a staggering 525 points. This powerhouse performance has solidified their status as a formidable force in 4A Classification as we move closer to the state tournament.

Bears Who Bested the Competition: The spotlight shone brightly on Crew Lambro, who continued his undefeated streak (39-0), topping the charts in the 106 weight class. At 113, Carter Tughan revenged his only league loss to stand tall as the champion. Owen Marshall (120) and Alex Othon (126) also captured top honors, further showcasing Tahoma's depth of talent. The victory parade didn't end there, with Gavin Wells, Joe Sullivan, Isac Deonigi, Cyrus Comia, Dylan Stover, Kage Repenn, and Trey Monaghan all earning gold in their respective weight classes. These wrestlers' triumphs were pivotal, contributing massively to the team's historic points tally.

Runners-Up Fuel Team Success: Not to be overshadowed, Colby Hill claimed a respectable second place in the 106 class, with Ethan Edwards, Eben Nau, Zack Baker, and Adriano Perez also securing runner-up spots in their respective weight divisions. Their efforts were instrumental in bolstering the Bears' overall score and highlighting the competitive depth of the team.

Qualifiers for the Next Challenge: The tournament also saw a strong showing from wrestlers who finished in the top five, securing their spots in the next week's regional tournament. Jackson Stoops, Jase Macatangay, Paul Tarantino, Andrew Feist, Harlan Day and Alex Mondt displayed commendable skill and determination, ensuring their participation in the upcoming showdown next weekend.

Team Excellence Recognized: Amid the individual accolades, the Bears' strategic and mental preparation, led by head coach Feist, did not go unnoticed. Coach Feist was honored as the NPSL Coach of the Year, while the assistant coaches were named Coaching Staff of the Year, underscoring the excellence behind the scenes. Senior and two-time state finalist standout Joe Sullivan was voted Wrestler of the Year, a testament to his leadership and skill on the mat.
