In a gripping showdown under the dimly lit mat light of Orting High School, the Tahoma Bears faced off against a formidable foe, the Orting Cardinals. This clash of wrestling titans left spectators on the edge of their seats as each match unfolded with intense drama and skill.

The evening's excitement began at the 157-pound weight class, where Cyrus Comia of Tahoma set the stage with an impressive performance. Comia dominated his opponent, Brock Armstrong of Orting, securing a commanding 12-2 major decision. With this victory, Tahoma surged ahead, taking an early 4-0 lead.

The Bears' relentless determination continued to shine as the matches unfolded. At 165 pounds, Adriano Perez of Tahoma showcased his mettle by earning a victory by disqualification over Amos Voss of Orting, further extending Tahoma's lead to 10-0. This disqualification would later turn out to be the deciding factor of the match. However, the Cardinals weren't to be outdone. In the 175-pound weight class, Levi Dicugno of Orting turned the tide in a matter of seconds, pinning Lucas Gropper of Tahoma in a mere 36 seconds. Orting closed the gap to 10-6, keeping the suspense alive. Dylan Stover of Tahoma bumped up a weight and stepped onto the mat at 190 pounds and wrestled his way to an 8-3 decision victory against Mason Lee of Orting, solidifying Tahoma's lead at 13-6. Kage Repenn of Tahoma, competing at 215 pounds, engaged in a fierce battle against Russle Amadeo of Orting. Repenn's determination paid off with a hard-fought 3-1 decision victory, extending Tahoma's advantage to 16-6. The heavyweight division saw Tahoma's Alex Mondt deliver a stunning performance, pinning Lane Thomas of Orting in just 3 minutes and 21 seconds. This commanding victory left no doubt as Tahoma's lead surged to 22-6.

As the lower weight classes took the stage, the Bears continued their impressive run. At 106 pounds, Crew Lambro of Tahoma unleashed his prowess, securing a spectacular fall victory over KK Harding of Orting in 5 minutes and 20 seconds. Tahoma's lead expanded to 28-6, painting a picture of dominance. Orting found its footing once more at 113 pounds when Ty Saitiacum triumphed over Colby Hill of Tahoma, pinning him in 3 minutes and 10 seconds. This victory trimmed Tahoma's lead to 28-12. In a closely contested match at 120 pounds, Dominic Thomas of Orting managed a hard-fought 3-0 decision over Owen Marshall of Tahoma, inching Orting closer at 28-15. Orting's TJ Anderson showcased his skills at 126 pounds, securing a major decision victory with a score of 10-1 over Alex Othon of Tahoma, narrowing the gap to 28-19. Brian Dickerson of Orting continued to put on a show at 132 pounds, swiftly pinning Jace Macatangay of Tahoma in a mere 33 seconds. With this dramatic victory, Orting leveled the score at 28-25. Quintin Harding of Orting faced off against Gavin Wells of Tahoma at 138 pounds, emerging victorious with a 7-1 decision. The score was now tied at 28-28, setting the stage for a thrilling finale.

The outcome of the match hung in the balance as Joe Sullivan of Tahoma took on Mikey Fritz of Orting at 144 pounds. Sullivan displayed incredible resilience and determination, securing a narrow 1-0 decision victory. With this crucial win, Tahoma seized the lead once more, 31-28. In the final bout at 150 pounds, Apollo Cruz of Orting and Isac Deonigi of Tahoma engaged in a fiercely competitive showdown. Cruz managed to secure a hard-earned 6-5 decision victory, resulting in a tie score of 31-31.

When a wrestling match is tied it comes down to a long list of criteria to determine the winner. For this match, we didn’t have to move to far down the list as Ortings early disqualification was the deciding factor in the match allowing cool heads to prevail.
