The Tahoma Bears made an indelible mark at the Viking Invite, seizing 1st place with a commanding score of 255.5 points, outperforming formidable opponents including the #1 ranked in 2A Orting, and top teams from 4A Lake Stevens, South Kitsap, Sumner, 2A Annacortes, and 3A Mount Spokane. Demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, all 14 Tahoma wrestlers earned a place in the tournament, solidifying the team's dominance.
Leading the charge were the three champions who emerged victorious: Crew Lambro, Alex Othon, and Isac Deonigi. Crew Lambro maintained an unblemished record, securing his 1st place with a series of decisive falls, displaying technical prowess and an unyielding competitive spirit. Alex Othon's journey to the top included a strategic win by decision in the final match, showcasing his adaptability and tactical acumen. Isac Deonigi, with an impressive record, clinched his title with a tiebreaker triumph over a two-time state champion, exemplifying his resilience and mastery under pressure.
Tahoma's strength was further evidenced by the outstanding performances of several other wrestlers. Owen Marshall battled to a commendable 3rd place finish, overcoming challenges with sheer grit and skill. Joe Sullivan secured a 2nd place finish, his determination evident in every match leading to a narrow decision in the final. Cyrus Comia also reached the 2nd place podium, contributing significantly to the team's point tally.
Even those who faced setbacks showed commendable tenacity. Colby Hill, after an early loss, fought back valiantly through the consolation rounds to claim a 5th place victory. Gavin Wells showcased his skills by taking a strong 3rd place, a testament to his hard work and dedication.
